Residential Fire Sprinkler Requirements:
Water for a residential fire sprinkler systems shall be supplied by a pump and tank, or a municipal water supply.
* Where stored water is used as the sole source of supply, the required sprinkler demand shall be stored in an approved tank.
* The pump must be listed or approved for use with a fire sprinkler system by a recognized testing laboratory.
Fire sprinklers are required in one and two family dwellings when the area under roof equals 5,000 square feet or greater. The calculated area shall include all livable and unfinished space, the area of any attached garage, and concealed or accessible spaces intended for storage use and/or future living space. All attached roofs and overhangs greater than 4 feet in width are included in the calculated area.
