Fleet maintenance for the Central Arizona Fire & Medical Authority is performed by four full time mechanics. Our mechanics hold numerous certifications in automotive and fire apparatus repair, including ASE and EVT certifications, and have over 100 years of combined experience.

Work may be performed at the maintenance facility or in the field as needed. Our full service maintenance shop is 14,185 square feet including the mezzanine. It has eight bays, two portable lifts for large trucks/fire engines and a fixed lift for smaller vehicles and an overhead crane, fabrication bay, parts storage, SCBA repair area and a pump testing area.

Additionally, when new apparatus is received much of the specialized work needed to turn a standard vehicle into a useable piece of fire equipment is done in-house. This includes fire pump installation, electrical work and fabrication of parts used for equipment storage. Every aspect of the apparatus is handled by the Fleet Maintenance Section, beginning with R&D, writing the specifications, bidding, manufacturer inspections, final acceptance testing and outfitting the apparatus and placing it into service.

The Fleet Maintenance Section contracts with other fire organizations including Groom Creek, Mayer, Williamson Valley, Camp Verde and Cherry Volunteer Fire Districts and the US Forest Service for apparatus repair and maintenance.
